The last days of my Malaysian travels I actually spent in Singapore, chilling out at a friend's place. Michael is a friend from my UBS days in Switzerland, who had moved to Singapore to marry Shirley, the love of his life. Shirley and Michael were generous hosts who introduced me to the varieties (and vagaries) of Singaporean cuisine, including Chicken Feet and (less Singaporean though) Durian, which I had not been able to sample while in Malaysia.

I didn't do a lot. I simply relaxed and recovered from the annoying cold I had caught after my Mt Kinabalu adventure. I did some shopping and enjoyed the small but first-class Singaporean zoo, walked through Chinatown and the city center, and took another look at Orchard Rd. Beyond that I used the ameneties of my hosts' comfortable apartment and condo association's facilities, like a large swimming pool. Mostly though, I just hung out with my hosts and had a good time.

On Monday, I flew home, one week earlier than originally planned but happy, and as I hope you'll agree, full of stories.
