The instigator for my vacation had been an invitation to Gauri and Rahul's wedding. Rahul is a good friend from B-school.
Equally compelling was the chance to meet some more friends from California and around the world, since I had been living in Berlin for the last 18 months, feeling that I was loosing contact. I had to fix all kinds of private and professional matters first, but it worked out, and I was set to go! (As you undoubtedly noticed, since I'm already in the middle of my India vacation blog.)
