The Stanford German Student Association (SGSA) is an official Stanford student organization. Our mission is to offer German culture to Stanford and its community. We undertake a number of social and cultural events like the ever popular Oktoberfest, Feuerzangenbowle, and Stammtisch. Other examples are visits to local (German) companies or cultural institutions like the San Francisco opera.

I joined the SGSA in October 2002 and was elected officer for cultural affairs at the general assembly. In March 2003 I became the fifth president of the SGSA, succeeding Jan Benjamin Pietzsch who had successfully lead the SGSA for more than 2 years. In May 2004, I handed over the presidency to my successor, Christiane Chen, and moved on to the German Stanford Association, the alumni organization of the SGSA and a registered Stanford alumni organization. I remain closely connected to the SGSA though. If I can be of help, please let me know.

If you are interested in learning more about Stanford or simply would like to take a photo tour, I recommend A Geek's Tour of Silicon Valley, in particular the Stanford Tour.
